To take advantage of reduced school traffic during Spring Break and to lessen the impacts associated with the ECR Project construction, El Camino Real between Hwy. 41 and Traffic Way will have temporary detours and intermittent closures the week of April 14-18.  This portion of El Camino Real remains open and the intermittent road closures will only occur where active construction is taking place.  Downtown remains open, including access to sidewalks, surrounding streets, and businesses.  Free Downtown parking is available along the surrounding streets and public parking lots, including the City Hall parking lot.

Improvements include milling, paving, and crosswalk concrete/paver installation.   All roadway paving is expected to be completed by Friday, April 18th.  Message and directional signs will be posted to guide motorists along the temporary detour routes.  Drivers are encouraged to pay close attention to traffic signage and plan for traffic delays near construction areas.  The roadway improvements are part of The ECR Project, improving the safety, economic vitality, parking capacity, and aesthetics of the El Camino Real downtown corridor between Highway 41 and Rosario Avenue.

The community is encouraged to stay informed about ongoing ECR Project updates and traffic advisories by following the City on Social Media Platforms: Facebook, Instagram, and X and visiting Atascadero.org/ECRProject.  Community members can also sign up for construction news and alerts at Atascadero.org/News-List.
